YOU’RE STAYING IN JAIL FOR THE HOLE SENTENCE

-

Millionaire thug Frankie “Donuts” Donaldson has had an appeal against his sentence for domestic violence rejected.

The 58-year- old was handed a 26-month jail term in June after he admitted attacking partner Jane Clarke in an eight-year campaign of abuse.

He was also banned from contacting Jane for four years under a non-harassment order.

The gangland figure – who has been linked to serious organised crime for 30 years – lodged an appeal in July, claiming the punishment was too severe.

But judges at the High Court of Justiciary in Edinburgh have told him he has been unsuccessful.

The decision, by Lord Justice Clark and Lord Ar thurson, emerged after he was slashed by another inmate at HMP Low Moss.

He has now been moved from the prison to HMP Dumfries, where he is expected to see out the remainder of his sentence. Last night, a prison source said: “It’s not a great time for Frankie. He was hoping the appeal would go through and he would be free sooner rather than later.

“After what happened in Low Moss, he is even more desperate to get out.”

Donaldson was reported to pol ice in 2013 and a probe uncovered years of violence.

On one occasion, he hit his partner with a wet towel before throttling her with it.

He also threw a dumbbell at her but hit a wall.

In an another incident, a terrified child in a house in Torrance, Dunbartonshire, hit Donaldson with a lamp in a bid stop him smashing Jane on the face with a car key.

Earlier this year, at Glasgow Sheriff Court, Donaldson admitted nine charges of assault.

Seven were against Jane between January 2005 and June 2013 and two were against her sister El izabeth Harrison between March 2001 and October 2004.

Yesterday, of f icials at the justiciary confirmed the appeal had been rejected on August 23.

Donaldson was rushed to hospital on August 31 after being attacked in the prison gym.

In April, he was repeatedly slashed in a targeted street attack as he awaited sentencing. A gang of men confronted Donaldson as he got out of a car in Cumbernauld and left him sprawled on the ground with serious injuries.

Donaldson was a close associate of gangster George “Goofy” Docherty, who was murdered in 2006.

A Scottish Prison Service spokesman said: “We don’t comment on individual prisoners.”
