Kevin Holt knows Celtic star Patrick Roberts strikes fear into defenders – but Johnny Hayes is his own biggest nightmare.

The Dundee full- back can’t wait to face Brendan Rodgers’ star-studded side at Dens Park for Wednesday night’s televised Betfred Cup quarter-final tie.

On- loan Man City star Roberts, 20, is grabbing all the headlines.

But Holt reckons Dubliner Hayes has that extra threat with his scintillat­ing pace.

Holt said: “Patrick is obviously outstandin­g and can be a joy to watch when he’s in full flight.

“But Johnny is something different. He was one of the toughest players I played again last season when he was still at Aberdeen.

“He has really added to Celtic’s squad, bringing a different dimension. Hayes is more direct than Roberts. As a defender, sometimes that’s worse to play against.”

Holt says the Dundee men will be glad to get a break from the league after their difficult start to the season.

He said: “We’re looking forward to Wednesday.

“It will be nice just to get a wee break from the league.

“When the draw was made, we obviously knew it would be tough.

“We just have to try and come up with a way to stop Celtic. We have to believe we can do it on the night.” made a mistake but I don’t care’.
