- Boss Horn

Additional reporting by Jane Barrie Elvis had well and truly left the building when a festival in his memory was cancelled at the last minute.

Fans paid £135 each for tickets for the three-day Europe’s Tribute to Elvis show in Blackpool in June.

Now they are all shook up after organisers Tees Events promised refunds within seven days then fa i led to return their money.

Robert Barrett, 63, whose wi fe Linda, 58, is a huge Elv is fan, said: “We are angry and disappointed.

“We booked and paid for the tickets in November. To pul l the plug is ridiculous. Far be it from me to have a suspicious mind but they were still selling tickets until the last gasp.

“More than 1500 people attend and it has grown in popularity in the five years since it launched.”

Robert, who is original ly from Hamilton but has lived in England for 40 years, did receive an email from Tees Events.

He said: “It explained that the festival had been cancelled due to a family emergency.

“It also claimed tribute acts from abroad had expressed concern about coming to England, I assume because of the terror incidents.

“That made me think something didn’t quite add up.”
