Rober t , a director of an industrial cooling firm, said: “Bosses at the Winter Gardens, where the festival was to be held, put on their own free show so fans were not left disappointed.

“Tees Events said our money would be refunded.”

But that was in June and the Barretts, who have a shrine to Elvis in a converted shed in their garden, have sti ll not received their cash.

Robert said: “I’ve lost count of the times we’ve been told the money is on its way. At first, Tees Events said seven to 10 days, then two weeks and then six. At one point, they blamed a third-party ticket supplier who they claimed had the money.

“But we were assured it would be with us by August 21 at the latest. We’re still waiting.”

John Devine and his wife Chr i s t ina , of Mosspa rk , Glasgow, are £270 down.

John said: “We got to the Winter Gardens and the woman at the ticket off ice said, ‘ The event is cancelled.’ We were so disappointed, especially after travelling all that way.

“Apparently an email had been sent out to ticket-holders but I didn’t receive it.

“Tees Events assured me the money would be returned. But I’ve been on to Citizens Advice Collector Thomas Dunn was missing a coin to complete an exclusive set of sovereigns.

He’d spent more than a year chasing Windsor Mint, who couldn’t supply the souvenir featuring engineering giant Isambard Kingdom Brunel. They kept on sending him Princess Diana instead.

They said:said “We sent the coincoi to the customer withwit an apology. ThanksTha for flagging up a gagap in our process.” and my bank and I’m getting nowhere fast.”

Tees Event s , ba sed in Stockton- On-Tees, are run by Stephen Horn. Their accounts are overdue at Companies House.

I got on to Tees Events but they insisted it would still take up to 10 days to return my readers’ cash.

They added: “Everyone is being refunded. We are sorry for the delay. The refunds have been issued to our system and due to credit disputes it has taken a lot longer. We cancelled three days before the event due to a family emergency.”

If my readers don’t receive their cash, you’ll be first to hear.
