I’ll always be wound up to wind up rivals

Rangers we re making headway into his side’s sup e superiority, though, and he shrugged:hd ““I don’td know – that’s something for you to decide and write about. We can’t win every game by five and six. “But we showed a great level of management today. We knew it was going to be tough.

“Pedro has changed it and brought in a lot of players, a lot of experienced players.

“Obviously they will believe they can go on and challenge. “We had to come here today for the first one of these games of the season and I thought we were absolutely outstanding. “We scored two, could have had mor e but very importantly we were very strong defensively as well in terms of our pressing and denying them the opportunity to play. “They are a team that gets it wide and puts crosses in the box. We had one scare in the first half where they got a ball to the back post and Morelos nearly gets in. But apart from that defensively we were great in those moments.

“With the ball I thought we started well but in the final third just didn’t quite make the last pass which could have got us in front earlier.

“In the second half I thought our conditioning and quality of our players came through.

“Once we got the goals we were disappointed not to score more but we did make more re chances.

“It was a very, very ry good performance. There re was a great atmosphere re here today and our boys ys coped with it well.”

Despite beratingg Griffiths for his momentnt of ill- discipline withh Josh Windass, Rodgers s was otherwise full of f praise for the striker.

He said: “He didn’tt have so many clear chances but his movement was always a threat. What is brilliant about Leigh is that, firstly, he believes he can score in every game no matter what the level and, two, he operates in front of the defenders and in behind them. “He really tries to get into the spaces where it can hurt defenders. His movement drives central defenders out of positions they don’t want to be out of. “His movement at the goal and finish was outstanding. “He was very good but today was a really, really good team performance.”
