Phew! That was a real Bayerning curve for us against one of best sides in the world

them and seeing what they do when the ball comes to them under pressure. You just try and learn. I always need to improve everything.

“I am not really that good at anything in particular, if I am honest! There is nothing that I am perfect on so I just try to improve every day.

“But in the big games like that, maybe you can take a man on and keep the ball.

“You are going to get pressed in games like that. Maybe if you can put the ball to one side and keep it, do something when he is on you rather than just giving it away which is slightly easier. In games like that I’d like to keep the ball a bit better.

“You just want them to think they’ve been in a game. You never want to make it easy for anybody, give anyone too much respect.

“You respect all your opponents but on the park you don’t give them time or space. You don’t lie down to anyone. You go in 100 per cent as always, nothing dirty just hard but fair as you have got to do.”

Tierney knows they’ll have to do it all again against the Germans in 10 days, with games against Aberdeen and Ki lmarnock sandwiched in between. And he admitted: “It’s a hard one mentally as well as physically.

“Physically because you’re running about for 90 minutes chasing the best players in the world. Mentally because as a Celtic player you have big games coming up all the time so you can’t let it affect you too much.

“You know you’re going to play Bayern Munich again at home and we’ll analyse the game but for now we still have to be on top of the next couple of games.”
