UFC hero Conor McGregor faces a hammering after a bust-up with a referee at an MMA event in Dublin

The two- weight UFC champion jumped into the octagon to congratula­te team-mate Charlie Ward after he KO’d John Redmond in the first round.

Referee Mark Goddard ordered him back out and sparked a melee by pushing him away.

The Irishman retaliated, running after Goddard and shouting and pointing at him before he was escorted from the scene.

And McGregor, who has not fought in the UFC since stopping Eddie Alvarez to capture the 155lb crown in November last year, now faces a wait to see what his punishment will be. Team Sky cyclist Luke Rowe has taken his first spin on a bike since suffering major leg injuries in August.

Rowe fractured the tibia and fibula in his right leg in a rafting accident on his brother’s stag do.

His rehab has been gruelling but Rowe enjoyed a few laps of the velodrome in Newport yesterday.

The Welshman tweeted: “Big day for me, first time on the pushy for three months.” Michal Gutwald can’t wait to show Braehead Clan’s fans what he’s capable of when he makes his home debut tonight.

The Czech impressed in last week ’ s 5- 2 win at Edinburgh Capitals and now faces Guildford Flames in ice hockey’s Elite League.

The defenceman said: “I’m looking forward to seeing all the fans at home.” Craig Overton hopes he can seal an Ashes slot af ter helping England cruise to victory in their latest warm-up clash.

The English beat a Cricket Australia XI by 192 runs at the Adelaide Oval.

Overton claimed three wickets for just 15 runs as the Aussie side were skittled for 75 in the second innings.

And he said: “I’d like to think I’ve put myself in contention – but I’ve still got a bit of work to do.”
