Naisy wary of New Saints marching on after defeat

-

Gary Naysmith reckons that defeating The New Saints has become a lot harder after the Welsh side suffered a shock league loss.

The Queens gaffer is wary of the threat the Welsh champions pose as they bid to secure a place in the Irn-Bru Cup semi-finals.

Naysmith said: “TNS are the top team in Wales and have got used to not losing games domestically.

“They went down 1- 0 to Barry Town United last weekend and they will be looking to bounce back straight away.”

Naysmith’s side will today be backed by around 600 Doonhamers who have made the trip south to Oswestry on the EnglishWelsh border. And the former Scotland full back believes Scott Ruscoe’s men will aim to keep veterans Stephen Dobbie and James McFadden quiet in their bid to beat Queens.

He added: “From what I have seen there is not much between the teams. However, judging by a few comments coming from Wales, they are pinpointing Stephen and James as the dangermen.

“We know that we will be in for a battle but we don’t mind that.

“We had to battle to come from behind to win at Morton last weekend.

“Morton do not lose many games at home and they lose even fewer when they have been ahead so we will be ready for TNS.

“The club have asked the fans to ‘Paint Oswestry Blue’ by travelling to the game and wearing our colours.

“It looks like that request has been well received and we will have a good few hundred fans down with us.”
