70s star Cassidy in battle for life

David Cassidy was fighting for his life in hospital last night.

The 67-year-old Partridge Family star and singer was reported to have suffered multiple organ failure.

Sources close to the Ame r i c a n said his condition was “grim”.

But despite reports he had been placed in a medically-induced coma, his spokeswoma­n insisted that he was “conscious and surrounded by family”.

Cassidy is believed to have been in failing health for the last two months and was rushed to hospital in Florida three days ago.

He requi res a l iver transplant and is suffering from kidney failure.

His family have been told to prepare for the worst.

Fans were concerned for his wellbeing when he st rugg led t h rough a concert in LA in February – the same month he revealed he was battling dementia.

He stumbled on stage and forgot some of his words, prompting fears he had started drinking again.

But he spoke about his dementia battle to People magazine after the gig, saying: “I was in denial but a part of me always knew this was coming.”

As wel l as alcohol problems, Cassidy – widely known for his role as Keith Partridge on the 1970s series – has also had run-ins with the law, including being arrested twice for driving under the influence.
