I’m used to bosses’ Croats hanging on shaky nails .. I saw six sacked in one season back home SAYS

RANGERS LATEST

- Scott McDermott

Managerial upheaval at Ibrox won’t have a negative effect on Niko Kranjcar.

And it’s not because the Croatian playmaker doesn’t care about who takes the reins at Rangers.

On the contrary, he has cal led for much- needed stability at the club.

But in terms of gaffers coming and going from Auchenhowie, Kranjcar is used to it.

After all, he revealed that while playing in his own country he once had SIX bosses in one season.

Allied to the fact his own father Zlatko has been the v ict im of footba l l ’ s manager merry-go-round, it means the 33-year- old is immune to it.

At Gers, he has played under Mark Warburton, Pedro Caixinha and Graeme Murty.

And Kranjcar says the p l a y e rs shou ld be per forming for the supporters, irrespective of who is at the helm.

Now back from injury and fully fit, he said: “In Croatia I had six managers in one season.

“I was at Dynamo Zagreb where I had four then moved to Split and we had two.

“Six in a season so this is easy, isn’t it?

“It’s just football. My dad who was a superstar in Croatia and a great manager.

“He got the sack a couple of times and left clubs as well. So it’s normal.

“When you don’t have good results they don’t change the team – they change the manager.

“Anyone in football knows that’s how it works.

“We don’t decide who the manager will be, it’s the board’s decision. We’re focused on our jobs.

“You don’t play for the manager. You play for a great club, for yourself and the fans.

“Whoever the manager is, you put that shirt on and have to give everything.

“We have loyal fans who have gone throug h everything with this club.

“You would be crazy not to feel honoured to be part of Rangers.

“I said a few months ago that what the club needed was stability and it hasn’t worked out that way.

“But hopeful ly, going forward, it will happen. We all hope Rangers can have a stable future and push on from there.”

Kranjcar’s arrival at Ibrox excited Rangers fans who h o p ed he co u l d replicate the kind of performances that once lit up the Premier League.

But he wasn’t fit when he joined from New York Cosmos and injuries have curtailed his impact.

He said: “I haven’t shown the supporters my best yet.

“When I was starting to show it, and was feeling really good, my knee injury happened.

“I can’t be happy with myself, my form or the team’s form this season.

“The fans are only seeing glimpses unfortunately. My last setback was only for 10 days but after that I wa sn’ t bei n g selected by the previous manager.

“I was working away, trying to get my fitness back. But only games give you a proper fitness level so that you feel great again.

“The knee is alright now and I’m just happy to be p lay ing football again.”

But can Kranjcar do the things he did when he was at his peak for Spurs and Portsmouth?

He knows it’s getting tougher as he gets older but the gi f ted Croat is adamant he can still be a positive influence at Ibrox.

He said: “I don’t think my knee will ever be as it was before.

“But you just live with it on a daily basis and work hard to get the most out
