£20K-A-WEEK GOALIE FACES COURT BATTLE Wife of Celtic keeper Gordon files for divorce after 8-year marriage
Norman Silvester The wife of Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon has started divorce proceedings against the footballer.
It emerged last month that the Scotland star was dating the club’s former TV presenter, Summer Harl, 28.
At the same time, Gordon confirmed that his eight-year marriage to childhood sweatheart Jennifer, 34, had broken down.
The divorce action – which has been raised by Jennifer – was listed for the first time at the Court of Session in Edinburgh last week.
Though no evidence was heard, the action became legally active for the first time.
It means a time limit has now been set for both sides to prepare their case for court. Gordon is being represented by international law firm DAC Beachcroft and Jennifer has hired Edinburgh
firm Balfour Manson
Summer, originally from Norwich, presented on Celtic’s telly channel for three years until she quit in February.
Gordon battled back from a career-threatening knee injury in 2014 when he joined Celtic after almost three years on the sidelines. He and Jennifer had been together since they met at Balerno High School. They married eight years ago.
It is understood that Jennifer has remained in the family home in nearby Colinton while Gordon has moved into a flat in the same area. It is not known when the couple split up. In an interview in April this year, Gordon paid tribute to the support his wife had given him during his injury absence from football.
Gordon’s solicitors declined to comment.
