Warren Gatland insists the lessons learned by Wales from defeat by the All Blacks will boost their World Cup challenge.

The All Blacks ran in five tries against the Welsh who haven’t defeated the world’s best team for 64 years.

But coach Gatland said: “I thought it was a great Test match.

“At half-time I felt we’d given them soft tries but their power and pace showed.

“Steffan Evans and Hallam Amos will have learned a lot. We talk about developing players for the World Cup and we are.”

Wings Waisake Naholo and Rieko Ioane both claimed try doubles for the All Blacks.

Sub centre Anton LienertBrown also touched down and fly-half Beauden Barrett kicked four conversions.

Wales replied with tries for Scott Williams, who marked his 50th cap in style, and scrum-half Gareth Davies plus eight Leigh Halfpenny points. A lalate move to full-back after Stu Stuart Hogg was injured. More co comfortable on the wing but a ssolid show.

WhWhenever he gets the ball he looks dangerous. A senior memember of the team now and he lealeads by example, always trytrying to get on the front foot.

Seven tries in 111 Test appearances. Has sucsuch quick feet and presence of mmind and he can get even bebetter.

Not the biggest player but he pupunches above his weight all the time and created a lot of space for his outside backs.

Promoted to the starting XV late on but it didn’t seem to faze him. Had a couple of early barnstorming runs then bagged two tries and was man of the match.

This is the kind of game he loves, open with lots of space. At times ran the show but needs to tighten up on some more mundane duties.

Link-up he has with Russell gets better every game and his confidence is sky high. Greig Laidlaw will have a struggle to get this jersey back.

Played first half and although he dropped a couple of easy passes, in the tight did a fine job.

One of the players of the autumn for Scotland. Strong in both tight and loose and Fraser Brown and Ross Ford have a big job on their hands to get the No.2 jersey back.

Like Marfo played 40 minutes and put in a good half. Carries strongly and made a couple of big tackles.

His first start in a while and he did a fine job before being replaced by Ben Toolis. He is a fine lineout option.

His injury break seems to have done him the world of good. Has come back a stronger and more athletic player and bagged a try.

Captain fantastic, he leads with a calm, assured nature. But when he has to make hits and do the hard yards he does just that. His face after he scored his try said it all – smiles all round.

After having to go off in the first half against New Zealand he was up for this one and put himself about as usual. Hit by Kepu for the red card.

A quieter game for returning Glasgow Warrior but a key part of coach Gregor Townsend’s plans going forward.
