Paul: Fans right to give us pelters

- Lindsay Herron

Paul Hartley admitted the Falkirk fans were right to boo his side off as his winless run since taking over stretched to six matches.

But he insists the players have to believe they will pull clear of the relegation zone – despite Brechin cutting the gap to six points.

Hartley said: “We are in a difficult moment but we have to try to fight our way out of it.

“We have to keep believing and try to get that first win.

“The supporters showed their dissatisfaction and rightly so.

“Fans pay good money so have the right to voice their frustration.”

It was a glory day for Robert Thomson as Morton savoured their biggest win over Falkirk in 30 years.

Aaron Mui rhead tugged Thomson’s shirt in eight minutes and although Robbie Thomson saved Gary Harkins’ spot-kick, the midfielder scored with the rebound.

Thomson then headed home Ross Forbes’ corner just before half-time.

Then Morton scored a brilliant third goal in 61 minutes - after Derek Gaston had made two terrific saves to deny Falkirk’s Lee Miller.

Harkins brilliantly played in Thomson on the right side of the box and he finished clinically.

Ton boss Jim Duffy said: “Thommo has been injured but Gary Oliver was ill during the night and we decided to go with him.

“Our third goal was outstanding. Gary Harkins had the vision and then the execution to pick out Thommo who had peeled away from two defenders.”
