Heughan I’d be lost without trainers

-

Jet-setting Outlander star Sam Heughan admits he feels lost without his running shoes.

The heart- throb Scots actor makes sure his trainers are the first thing in his suitcase because he always gets to know new places by going for a jog into the unknown.

Sam, 37, who got his first break in River City more than a decade ago, has just spent months on the road shooting his new movie in Los Angeles and Amsterdam.

He said: “When I go away, what are my must- have items? Boringly, I always take my running shoes.

“I usual ly look online or ask my f riends for recommendations about places.

“But the best way to know a city is to strap on your running shoes, go out and get lost.

“You’ll eventually learn the city, one way or another.”

Sam, from New Galloway, has won a global following playing Highland warrior Jamie Fraser in the US television fantasy drama Outlander.

His latest film, The Spy Who Dumped Me, is due out next year. He plays a secret agent opposite Mila Kunis and the action movie also stars X- Files icon Gillian Anderson.

Fitness fanatic Sam is also the founder of the My Peak Challenge movement.

Its thousand of members follow a fitness challenge progamme and raise money for blood cancer research charity Bloodwise.
