The short and suite of it

I ordered a leather suite and was promised delivery before Christmas. Now the retailers claim there is a problem at the manufactur­er and won’t fulfil the order until January. I am furious. Can I cancel and order elsewhere? Probably not, unless you negotiate with the shop. It’s likely time is not of the essence of the contract, which means they can deliver when they like. You are likely to have been given an estimated date. Speak to the manager. They may refund you or offer a loan suite.

They stayed overnight at the Normandy Hotel, left their vehicle and took the free shuttle bus to Glasgow Airport early the next morning.

But they were horrified when they returned a week later to find their car had disappeare­d.

Lynn, 48, said: “I am still in shock. I can’t believe what has happened.

“Initially, we thought hotel staff had misplaced the keys. Then we realised the car was gone.

“I’m really upset about this. I’ve had to take time off work.”

The couple, of A ltens , Aberdeen, flew to Benidorm on November 11.

They’d booked into the Normandy the night before, paying £ 67.50 for an overnight stay and car parking for the week.

Lynn, a supermarke­t area manager, said: “We were heading toBenidorm for the annual fiesta with friends.

“It was the first time we’d been on holiday without our two boys – Kieran, who’s 15, and 13-year-old Kaden.

“The boot was full of Christmas gifts. We’d spent £1500 at a designer outlet.”

The Eddies parked the vehicle, a Ford Focus, at the hotel entrance. As they were leaving for their flight, they handed in their keys at reception in an envelope provided by the hotel.

Lynn said: “We’d been told this was the procedure.

“The night porter said the car would be moved round to their secure parking area.”

But the hotel did not log the car on their computer. When the couple got back, the keys couldn’t be found – and neither could the
