Sir Paul’s bid to aid bombing victims
A special Beatles album will be auctioned this week to raise money for the families of two Scots victims of the Manchester Arena bomb attack.
Sir Paul McCar tney donated the box set after being moved by the plight of Barra schoolgirls Laura MacIntyre and Ei l idh MacLeod.
Eilidh, 14, was one of 22 people killed in the terrorist attack at an Ariana Grande concert in May.
She had travelled from the Outer Hebrides to Manchester with Laura, 15, for their first big pop concert.
Laura has returned to the island ’ s Cast lebay Community School after spending many weeks in hospital being treated for serious injuries.
Sir Paul will sign and personalise the special Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band six-disc super deluxe (50th Anniversary Edition) box set for the buyer.
It will go under the hammer at Bonhams in London on Wednesday as part of their entertainment memorabilia sale.
The a lbum, whi ch includes hits Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane, will feature as the last lot of the section devoted to the Beatles.
It is presented with a 144-page hardcover book with an introduction by Sir Paul and chapters providing comprehensive song- bysong details and recording information.
