waltzed into the box before lashing an unstoppable volley into the top corner after 16 minutes.

The match was end to end and minutes later Killie restored their lead. Boyd lashed a 25-yard free-kick that Tomas Cerny could only parry and Brophy followed up to send his rebound into the roof of the net.

Blair Spittal almost edged Jags level with a free-kick from the edge of the area but Jamie MacDonald turned it round the post. From the corner

Kris Doolan Partick were still in there fighting and having decent possession before Niall Keown’s own goal ended the match as a contest sent it goalwards but Jordan Turnbull deflected it just past.

Mulumbu then dispossessed Ryan Edwards before Gary Dicker played in Brophy. The ex-Hamilton man forced a save from Cerny.

Spittal again had the chance to get Partick back into it but his back-post shot flew too high.

The Firhill men showed good intent after half-time and bossed possession but they were hit with a crushing sucker punch on the hour. Brophy made the most of a punt and rushed into the box to force a

g reat save from Cerny – but his parry hit Keown and landed in his own net.

Killie were rampant and soon added their fourth. Chris Burke’s corner was met by Kirk Broadfoot whose header was turned in by Brophy.

It would get even better for the home side in 79 minutes as Turnbull brought down Broadfoot in the box. Boyd made no mistake from the spot.

Brophy had been keen to take the penalty to complete his hat- trick but his strike partner was having none of it. Clarke added: “Kris takes the pens. He made the point you don’t see too many players running for the ball when you’re 1- 0 down.”
