STANDS TALL Well boss in rage at SPFLrules

-

Kyle Lafferty’s goal might be a season changer as well as the game changer which finally broke Hearts’ duck in front of their new stand Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson has launched a scathing attack on the SPFL for the rules that left him without a back-up goalkeeper.

The Northern Irishman was already frustrated by the 1-0 defeat at Tynecastle but with Russell Griffiths replacing Trevor Carson, he was forced to name seven outfield subs.

He fumed: “That’s because of the ridiculous SPFL rules. We have a young boy on loan at Clyde, PJ Morrison, who we tried to call back. However, the recall option only works for the Under-20s.

“We’re trying to develop young Scots, put them on a stage like Tynecastle, new stand, great atmosphere, but we can’t bring him back?

“If Malky Mackay is trying to develop young players, the SPFL surely must support him.

“We won’t loan players out if we can’t bring them back. It needs addressed, massively.”

Well are now without a win in four games and Robinson added: “There was nothing in the game - the goal was comical as well.

“There was a foul on Alan Campbell, then Cedric Kipre and Carl McHugh slipped when Kyle Lafferty was going nowhere so that’s frustrating.

“We dominated large parts of the game without really hurting them and that’s frustrating.”

Chris Cadden is a doubt for Wednesday’s game against Partick with a hamstring issue while Alex Fisher will definitely miss out with concussion.
