I’ve got no fears over Ajer

-

sheet, the manager insists he’ll have no fears leaving him alongside Dedryck Boyata when they face Rangers on Saturday, after a Boxing Day trip to Dundee.

Rodgers said: “I thought he was brilliant and I’ll have no hesitation playing him next week. It doesn’t matter for me what age someone is – it’s just picking the best team each game to get the result.

“He has got the qualities, it’s just about getting him experience. This is a boy last year when I came in, 18 years of age, 6ft 5ins but just needed some men’s football.

“We sent him to Kilmarnock and he was taught very well. I found when he came back in the summer he was a man.

“He played in some of the Champions League games and did very well.

“At six foot five, he’s fast, he can carry the ball and now he wins his aerial challenges so he’s a big prospect for us.

“His decision-making is getting better all the time and he was part of a team that has kept another clean sheet.”

Goals from Mikael Lustig, Jonny Hayes and Olivier Ntcham earned Celtic victory yesterday and Rodgers said: “It was a very convincing win.

“The first half was a battle which you would expect. Aberdeen with a week to prepare for the game to come in and use their physicality.

“But I thought second half we were outstanding.

“So yeah, a very good win, a clean sheet and some of the players who came into the team were outstanding.”
