As well as The Gay Gordons and The Dashing White Sergeant, revellers can enjoy refreshmen­ts, a raffle, a clown and music fromJack Delaney’s Ceilidh Band and the Vale of Atholl pipe band. Arran Bike Club have organised an after- dark bike ride round the island tomorrow starting at 6pm. The club are meeting at Lamlash Fire Station with a plan to ride by bright bike lights off road as much as possible, using forest tracks and single track. Anyone is welcome to join, young or old, fit or not so fit. Visitors are also welcome. West Dunbartons­hire Athletics Club invite locals along with walkers, joggers and runners to Balloch Country Park for a two-mile walk, jog or run.

The route starts at the main gates of the park, taking in Balloch Castle and the Walled Garden before returning back to the main gates. If it’s too nippy outside but you still fancy a thrithrill, then there is always the Irn-Bru Carnival, which is open tomorrow bebetween 12pm and 9pm.

This year the carnival, which has bbeen runningi in Glasgow for 97 years, boasts 65 rides and attraction­s.

From the new Flying Dumbo and Air Swing Star Flyer rides to the sticky wall and waltzers, there is something to get everyone in a spin for the New Year. For many Scots, the only way to survive the morning after the night before is with a roll and sausage and a couple of painki l lers washed down with a bottle of ginger. Then it’s time to start all over again.
