Fraserburgh boss Mark Cowie insisted his side weren’t distracted by their big date with Rangers after letting 10- man Inverurie snatch a 2-2 draw.
Broch warmed up for their Scottish Cup date with Gers next weekend by shipping a last-gasp leveller.
Paul Campbell put them ahead from the spot after 40 minutes but ex-Aberdeen and Dundee United star Stuart Duff levelled two minutes later.
Af ter Joe McCabe’s 50th-minute red card for Locos, Jamie Beagrie fired the Broch back ahead only for a last- gasp Connor Rennie strike to seal a draw.
The setback left Fraserburgh eight points behind leaders Cove Rangers with an extra game played, while Locos trail the top side by eight points with three extra matches played.
But Cowie insisted: “There was no question about the application of my players. They were fully focussed on this game.
“We retreated too much in the latter stages and paid a price.
“But we’re lucky still to be challenging up to this point otherwise I’d have rested players for the cup tie.”
Front-runners Cove beat managerless Turriff United 4- 0, whi le Formartine Un i t e d h amme r e d Lossiemouth 6- 0.
Lee Fraser netted four as For res Mechanics demolished basement club Fort William 9-1.
