RUSSELL: I’M CUP FOR DEAL

- Scott McDermott

Russell Martin has set his sights on lifting the Scottish Cup with Rangers – then sealing a permanent deal at Ibrox. After arriving on-loan from Norwich City last week, the big stopper (left) is

targeting a trophy during his stint at the club.

He believes their best chance of silverware is the Scottish Cup with Gers trailing league leaders Celtic by 11 points.

But he’s convinced Graeme Murty’s men can win it – then he’ll look at securing a future at Ibrox.

Martin said: “Winning the Scottish Cup is definitely a goal for me.

“I speak to Graham Dorrans a lot and we’ve spoken about that. We know where we are in the league.

“We need to consolidate second place and challenge Celtic as much as we can. The guys showed in the last Old Firm game they can do that, we can close the gap.

“But to go and win something and come back to Ibrox with some silverware, that would be brilliant. That has to be our aim.

“My own focus is on doing as well as I can for Rangers and seeing where it goes.

“We all have a long-term plan. Ideally I’ll do well enough to make Rangers say they want to keep me – and give Norwich a decision to make in the summer.

“That’s why my full focus is on giving it everything I’ve got.”
