experience in this way in our cottage. Good luck with your married life and please, please do not come back to my farm.”

The couple married on February 8 at Airdrie Registry Office and checked in to the Carmichael Estate that day.

George added: “The noises sounded like they were coming from the walls, then it sounded like somebody was trying to get in.

“We tried to put it down to animals outside. But we could clearly hear whatever it was was inside the house.

“Why would we try to set something like this up? That’s the most insulting part.”

George and Pauline say they are still waiting for their refund of about £250.

Carmichael Estates offer a range of different accommodation in the grounds, as well as a visitor centre and farm shop.

A spokesman for the estate said: “We’re really concerned about the distressing experience the customer had in Pond Cottage, especially on their honeymoon.

“We have three emergency phone numbers for holidaymakers and are contactable 24/7.

“Pond Cottage is one of our most popular cottages and it’s highly rated by repeat visitors from all over the world.

“While we haven’t been able to find any evidence of the activity the customers have highlighted, we’re continuing to investigate.”
