Store’s TV insurance offer is a real turn-off
Jillian Cranston forked out £927 in insurance premiums to cover her plasma telly.
So when it broke after nine years and eight months, she expected Currys to replace it.
Instead, they offered her a voucher for £399.
Jillian said: “The TV cost £649 and I’ve paid £7.99 a month since 2007. That’s a total of £1611.84. It’s a disgraceful way to treat a loyal customer.”
I got on to Currys, who offered £499 plus a £ 200 goodwill gesture, to Jillian, of Musselburgh, East Lothian.
Currys said: “We endeavour to offer a like-for-like replacement but this is not always possible with older models. We have offered a goodwill gesture to apologise for the delay in dealing with her case as well as offering a range of alternative TVs.”
But Jillian said: “They have taken too long to resolve this and the policy was missold and misleading.
“They can’t be allowed to get away with it.”
