Tyre firm get green light

Bridgestone, the world’s biggest rubber company, are investigating pioneering ways to grow rubber plants.

They are focusing on guayule – a plant indigenous to the south-west US and north-central Mexico.

Dr Gil Ronen, of NRGene, said: “Bridgestone will be able to increase rubber yields while reducing the resource requirements.”
