We Saint a one man band

Ross says Buds didn’t miss Lewis

-

Jack Ross reckons his league leaders put the “myth” they’re a oneman team to bed by moving 11 points clear without Lewis Morgan.

A bout of tonsillitis ruled out the Celtic loan star on the eve of Dunfermline’s visit to Paisley.

But his team-mates managed to extend the Pars’ seven-game winless streak without him thanks to Harry Davis’ penalty and Liam Smith’s stunner.

Saints boss Ross said: “People who don’t see us week in, week out will jump on the bandwagon and say we are a one-man team because Lewis has been a match- winner this season. But we have a good squad of players and for us it is nice to prove to people we can be dominant and win a game without a player of his quality.

“It’ll be a nice problem to have next week if he is fit again. But it is nice to put that myth to bed for some people as well.”

Danny Mullen, who earned his gaffer’s praise on a first start since January 2, forced Lee Robinson’s first save with an acrobatic effort before the Pars keeper’s fingertips kept out Stephen McGinn’s deflected drive. James Craigen hit the side netting after being left free at the far post and his miss was punished in 69 minutes.

Mullen was upended by Jason Talbot and Davis put away the penalty as the Pars full- back walked for a second yellow.

Failure to clear from a Kyle Magennis corner saw it become 2- 0 three minutes later as Smith rattled in from the edge of the box.

Pars boss Allan Johnston said: “We weathered the storm at the start of the second half then had probably the best opportunity.

“That has been the story of our season – not taking our chances. James has to got to score.”
