Novichok fear for kids who met spy

- Yulia

Three children were taken to hospital after taking bread from poisoned spy Sergei Skripal to feed ducks.

The boys all took sick and their families face an agonising wait to see if they will be left with long-term health issues.

Diplomats told their counterparts in the US that Skripal handed bread to the youngsters near a playground in the centre of Salisbury.

Skripal and his daughter Yulia collapsed on a bench in the town later.

One of the boys is said to have eaten some of the bread handed over by Skripal.

All three reported symptoms consistent with novichok poisoning.

Investigators identified the children through CCTV in the park, which is overlooked by the Sainsbury’s car park that officers cordoned off earlier this month.

The boys have been discharged from hospital, our sister paper the Sunday Mirror said.

It also emerged that investigators are now focusing on Skripal’s front door knob as the site where the poison may have been smeared.

It came as it was revealed that no trace of novichok was found in Yulia Skripal’s suitcase, ruling out the theory she unwittingly brought it back from Moscow.

The bench the Skripals were sitting on when they were found unconscious has also been removed by a team in protective suits as the probe continues.
