Baby P’s mum gets ground floor cell
Baby P’s jailed mother Tracey Connelly has been moved to a cell on the ground floor – because she’s too fat to get upstairs.
Chocaholic Connelly has ballooned to 24 stone and was given the cell after she was placed in a three-storey block.
She was jailed in 2009 for letting her lover and his brot her tor ture her 17-month- old son Peter to death and is back inside after breaching her licence.
She has now been given a cell with its own en- suite facilities at Low Newton prison, near Durham.
A prison source said: “She’s too fat to tackle the stairs, so she’s been moved downstairs. Now she’s got a ground floor cell.
“She spends all her cash in her prison account on chocolate and crisps. She hoards them in her cell. It’s no wonder she’s so huge.”
The source said Connelly, 36, had tried to go on diets and been exercising in the prison gym but added: “She’s got no willpower so it only lasts a few days. She is just a giant slob who spends most of her days eating.
“She gets a plum pad on the ground f loor because she’s too much of a blob to get up the stairs. It makes you sick.”
The parole board decided in December that Connolly should stay in jail until at least December 2019.
She was originally jailed for letting her lover Steven Barker and his paedophile brother Jason Owen torture 17-month-old Peter to death in Haringey, north London.
