HUNGARY v SCOTLAND

-

But the snarling Hibs midfielder is desperate to be set upon Hungary on Tuesday night – because he has never felt more ready.

The 23-year-old is bursting to be involved in Budapest and cement a starting slot in Alex McLeish’s new-look side.

McGinn believes his all- action style – which has lit up Easter Road this season – can give Scotland a new edge.

Yet despite all of that, deep down the Easter Road star accepts he might have to change his game for international football.

McGinn made a late cameo off the bench in Friday’s 1- 0 defeat to Costa Rica at Hampden.

He added much-needed energy and drive to Scotland’s midfield but was also reprimanded by fussy German referee Tobias Stieler for challenges he’d have got away with for his club.

He says the Central Americans were conning the whistler but knows he will have to tailor his style against foreign opposition.

McGinn is almost certain to be involved against theheh Hungarians in midweekweeek and said: “I was frustratedratedated not to start on Friday becausee you always want to play.

“Even in the 10 minutesnutes I got, I wanted to make an impression.mpression.

“I did a couple of goodd things and a couple things not so good.

“Hopefully I’ll get a longernger run-out against Hungary.

“I’m champing at thee bit waiting for the manager to select me, I feel as ready as I’ll everer be to play for Scotland.

“For my club, I’m playingying the best football of my career so I want to put that into practice.

“I try not to change myy game when I come away with Scotland.tland.

“But the manager hass mentioned to me that I’ll have too change my style a bit.

“We had a Germann referee on Friday – but I don’t thinknk they have backsides like mine inn Germany!

“A couple of them weren’tren’t fouls, I wawa s trying to get in the f aces of the Costa R ica players and bring a bit of urgency. “But that’s international football these days. “It’s what refs are like at this level, it’s not the same in Scotland where sometimes they’ l l let some challenges ride. “Opponents like Costa Rica know how to get fouls and it went against me a few times the other night. “That’s something I need to learn, I’ll know better for Tuesday.”

Even for the short spell he had on the pitch, McGinn added drive and purpose to McLeish’s side.

In tandem with Celtic duo Stuart Armstrong and Callum McGregor, t he y i g n i t e d S c ot l a nd ’ s performance towards the end.

Now, he’s eager to spend more time with the Hoops pair in a dark blue shirt.

McGinn said: “We
