Csaba rejects talk Luggy’s in charge

- Euan McArthur

Dundee Utd ...... 1 Dunfermline ..... 1 Defiant Csaba Laszlo insisted he’s in charge – as he welcomed back legend Paul Sturrock to Tannadice.

The Hungarian hit out at suggestions he was being undermined as the toiling Tangerines fell to fourth place after being held to a draw at home by the Pars.

Laszlo’s men scraped a draw thanks to Scott McDonald’s lucky 55thminute equaliser after Nicky Clark had given the on-form Fifers the lead.

But he dismissed talk that Luggy was back to run the show. Laszlo said: “Look, I am the manager.

“Paul is a friend and someone who understands football. We work together but the person who has responsibility to put the team together and to train the team is Csaba Laszlo.”

Former Rangers ace Bilel Mohsni made his debut in the Terrors defence but was under early pressure.

Declan McManus’ 14th-minute strike hit the post then James Craigen wasn’t far away with an effort from 20 yards.

United’s best chance in the first-half was a Scott Fraser free-kick that was saved brilliantly by Fife keeper Lee Robinson.

But the Pars made the breakthrough after the break. Ryan Williamson’s cross was perfect for Clark to tap home his 17th goal of the season.

Their lead was shortlived. Craigen blasted a clearance straight at McDonald and the ball bounced off the Australian and past Robinson.

Athletic boss Allan Johnston said: “We shot ourselves in the foot with the equaliser.”
