We’ve all missed Graeme
Graham Dorrans limped to the treatment table before Graeme Murty took over at Ibrox – but the gaffer knows the impact he’ll make on his return to action.
The midfielder has been out of action since the 1-1 home draw with Kilmarnock in October that led to the demise of Pedro Caixinha.
But Dorrans’ return to starting line-up against Motherwell yesterday will give Gers a huge lift.
Murty said: “Graham has bags of experience.
“He sees the game in a different way and we now have a squad that can change games, change patterns, just through our different attributes.
“We have missed him but he’s not the only one.
“It’s good we have him, Ross McCrorie and Jordan Rossiter all vying to get back in the squad.
“The intensity of training last week reflected that.
“Graham has a different skillset and mindset. He sees the game in a different way and has an experienced head on his shoulders. Nothing fazes him.
“We had young players in the middle of the park recently who found it hard against Kilmarnock.
“Graham can handle anything. In training he is running around like a young thing and desperate to be involved.
“He needs time, understanding and games. We hope he continues to improve and gives us some impetus.”
Murty also thinks Wes Foderingham would be a perfect fit for Gareth Southgate’s England.
And he suggested seeing the likes of Jamie Murphy and Jason Cummings linking up with Alex McLeish for Scotland duty could spur Foderingham on in his own international efforts.
Murty said: “We had guys on international duty. Wes sees them going away and it will light a fire under him to experience it for himself.”
