I treated many big stars.. OJ was one

-

Emma helped treat OJ Simpson at Cedars-Sinai while he was on trial for the murder of his ex-wife in 1994.

The former American football star’s case had gripped the world and divided public opinion.

She said: “He was one of a number of very famous people my team was involved with over the years.

“At the time, I was watching a lot of these forensic detective TV programmes and his trial was also all over the news.

“We had to be very careful about making sure there wasn’t blood samples or anything else that could be taken out of the hospital during the treatment, as he was involved in this highprofile case where forensic evidence was central to everything.”

Simpson was cleared of killing Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. But their families filed a civil lawsuit and in 1997 a jury unanimously found him responsible for both deaths.

Emma was also in Los Angeles during the notorious 1992 riots sparked by the arrest and beating of Rodney King.

She added: “The riots happened just a few blocks from where I was living, though I never saw any violence first-hand.

“I can remember the streets were deserted – nobody wanted to go out for fear of getting caught up in the trouble.

“But it was all anyone was talking about. Even in the operating room, the doctors and nurses would be discussing it as they performed surgery.”
