Cybernats attack taxi boss after his Sturgeon Krankie gag

-

Stuart Goldie claims he has been bombarded with one-star reviews and bogus bookings since mocking a pro-independence rally.

He posted on the firm’s Facebook page on Monday ahead of the event in Dumfries yesterday.

It read: “Please remember that there will be some traffic disruption this Saturday morning/lunchtime, as the Jimmy Krankie appreciation society march round the town centre.”

The message included a fake image of Sturgeon dressed as Jimmy Krankie.

Goldie – who says he voted Yes in the 2014 independence referendum – is refusing to remove the post or say sorry.

He said: “It’s just a joke. Let them get on with it. They’re just sad. I’m astounded some folk can find that offensive.”

Goldie claims more than 600 people have posted fake reviews since Monday – resulting in Connect Taxis’ average rating plummeting from 4.8 to 1.8.

The post was shared on pro- indy forums, with some supporters urging people to make false bookings.

Facebook user Donald Wray commented: “This is going to be fun, sending you all over the place.” Scott McMurray posted: “Slash the tyres of any cab wearing those plates.”

Goldie, 41, said: “Suddenly reviewers are saying I stink and I’m constantly late. I’ve had about 10 folk trying to book airport hires. As soon as I ask for card details, they hang up.

“It doesn’t bother me as the majority of my customers are over 60 and aren’t on Facebook. They might have ruined my business page but they’ve not ruined my business.

“I voted Yes last time. I posted something taking the mickey out of the royal wedding and got no hassle so some nationalists need to lighten up.”

The SNP said: “Those on all sides of the political debate should seek to make their case with passion by all means but always treat one another with courtesy, understanding and respect.”

Hundreds of independence supporters were in Dumfries yesterday as part of the All Under One Banner march.
