Celtic will have raked in a staggering £69million from English clubs over the past six years when the Stuart Armstrong to Southampton deal goes through.

The Scotland international will become the 10th player to depart for England when he completes a £7m move.

For an initial outlay of just £14m, the champions have made a remarkable profit of £55m – an incredible top-up of over £9m per year. Here’s a list of the stars sold on...

The tricky South Korean midfielder arrived in a £2.1m deal from FC Seoul in 2009. Was sold to Swansea for £6m in the summer of 2012.

After arriving from Scunthorpe for £2.4m in 2010 he bagged 82 goals in 138 games. Norwich paid £5.5m for his services in the summer of 2013 but he failed to show the same deadly form down south.

The English defender must rate as one of the Hoops’ best-ever deals. Signed on a pre-contract from Nottingham Forest in 2011, he returned in August 2013 with Celtic picking up a cheque of £2.5m.

The Kenyan joined for a bargain £900,000 from Belgian side Beerschot in 2008. Celtic couldn’t resist when Southampton slapped in a £12m bid three years ago. The Hoops then picked up £1m in a sell-on clause when he joined Spurs in 2016.

The Welsh international arrived on a Bosman from Cardiff in 2010. Celtic cashed in before his contract expired and sold him to Crystal Palace for £800,000 in January 2014.

The 6ft 7in goalkeeper – who was nicknamed ‘The Wall’ in Spain after a wondershow against Barcelona – cost £2m from Newcastle in 2012. Earned two England caps before the Saints splashed £10m on the shot-stopper.

The Dutch defender cost £2.6m from Groningen in July 2013. Joined Southampton in a £13m deal in September 2015 before Jurgen Klopp paid an eye-watering £75m to take him to Anfield in January with the Hoops scooping a further £7.5m.

The full-back signed from Cardiff on a pre-contract in February 2011. Dick Advocaat bid £2million to take him to strugglers Sunderland in 2015.

The Norwegian arrived for £2million from Stromsgodset in 2014 and the Hoops recouped that sum when he joined Fulham two years later.

The latest lucrative departure. The 26-year-old arrived at Parkhead in a £2m joint deal with Gary Mackay-Steven in January 2015 and is now set for a £7m move to Southampton.
