The Fiesta needs no introduction. It is the country’s favourite car, a small but perfectly formed piece of automotive engineering that clocks up thousands of sales every year for Ford.
But slap the ST badge on it and we are talking something slightly different – a dynamic performance model that is a powerful car whether you opt for the three-door or five-door.
The problem generally is that adding on performance reduces fuel efficiency while piling on the emissions.
And that is exactly where the clever engineers at Ford have stepped in. For the first time, they have put their extremely frugal EcoBoost engine into a performance car – this time it’s the 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol job.
