Kilby dump Dundee as they dazzle in sunshine

Lowland League side East Kilbride bagged a 3-1 friendly victory over a Dundee XI at K Park – despite a trialist giving the Dark Blues the lead.

Sean Winter levelled for Kilby and Ross McNeil jinked past the keeper to fire in a second before Scott Stevenson sealed their win with a floated chip which evaded the Dark Blues’ shot-stopper and clipped the post on its way in.

Dundee’s city rivals United went down 1-0 to League One outfit Raith in their closed-doors friendly.

Barry Smith’s Raith side had been due to play Berwick Rangers on July 6 but the Shielfield Park clash was scrapped due to security concerns.

The Wee Gers instead took on Championsh­ip side Alloa Athletic before going down 3-1 – with Alan Trouten, Adam Brown and trialist Liam Dick all impressing for Wasps.

Arbroath sealed a 4-1 victory over Highland league side Huntly in hot conditions at Gayfield. Kane Hester opened the scored for the Lichties in 20 minutes with a volley from a tight angle before Ryan McCord’s penalty doubled their lead.

Jason Thomson then bagged his first goal for Arbroath with a header before Hester netted his second and Tom Andrews pulled one back for the Highlander­s.

East Fife beat East Region Super League side Lochee United 4-1 thanks to a Kevin Smith double, Jonathan Court’s effort and Liam Watt’s goal from 10 yards out.

In Angus, Morton were held to a goal less draw by Forfar at Station Park after the home side went close to taking the lead just before the break and had two goals chalked off for offside, including a late let-off for Ton.

Down the road at Glebe Pa rk , a header from Brechin City’s Kalvin Orsi 10 minutes from time separated Darren Dods’ League One side from Highland League outfit Formatine United.

Stirling Albion were 2- 0 victors against Stranraer after Jordan Allan touched in Daniel Jardine’s strike during a fairly even first half before Peter MacDonald’s penalty.

Elgin City secured a 4- 0 win over Buckie with Shane Sutherland scoring twice and Stephen Bronsky and Kerr Hay also getting their names on the scoresheet.

Elsewhere Cumbernaul­d Colts went down 2-1 to Queen’s Park with Arnaud Brembo on target for Colts and Peterhead beat Fraserburg­h 2-1 . Three second-half goals helped Montrose overturn a 2-0 deficit and defeat Highland League champions Cove Rangers Links Park.
