“We are also working on how we can ensure already planned processions do not pass the scene of last weekend’s incident.
“We do not have any legal authority to introduce a blanket ban on processions undertaken by any organisation.”

She said in a newspaper article: “Official participants may not be involved in sectarian and anti- social incidents around parades but it’s simply not enough to absol v e thems e l v e s by pointing to hangers-on.
“They need to step up and take wider responsibility for those they attract and refer to as their wider support and networks when it suits.
