Chrissie’s seeing ex Jim more than ever
Pretender s st a r Chrissie Hynde sees more of her ex-husband Jim Kerr now than when they were married.
The 66-year-old musician and the Simple Minds lead singer were married for six years in the 80s. They are going on the road together with their respective bands.
Chrissie said: “I’m on tour with my ex-husband and it feels like being on tour with a distant cousin f rom Germany.
“Normally we don’t see each other very often.
“It was the same when we were married.”
The pair met while doing g igs in Austral ia and American-born Hynde was going out with Ray Davies of The Kinks, the father of her eldest daug hter, Natalie.
But Glasgow-born Kerr was smitten with her and they married in May 1984.
However, several days after the wedding, the then 25-year-old Jim took off on a two- year world tour, leaving his wife behind.
Kerr said: “The last time I went on tour with Chrissie I ended up marrying her but I don’t think that wi l l happen this time.
“We have k ids and grandkids, so we get on well.
“She goes on the stage and I see an icon, one of the greats.
“When she comes off stage, we’ll chat about when we’re next taking the wee ones to the park when we’re both in London.”
The Pretenders’ UK tour starts on July 30.
