-

Maurizio Sarri has promised to bring entertaining football to Stamford Bridge after finally being confirmed as Chelsea manager on a three-year deal.

Italy midfielder Jorginho will join his boss from Napoli after he was confirmed as Sarri’s first signing in a deal worth around £50million.

The Ital ian coach replaces sacked Antonio Conte whose two-year reign ended on Friday.

Sarri said: “I am very happy to be coming to Chelsea and the Premier League. It is an exciting new period in my career.

“I look forward to starting work and meeting the players ahead of travelling to Australia, where I will be able to get to know the squad and begin our match action.

“I hope we can provide some entertaining football for our fans, and hope we will be competing for trophies at the end of the season, which is what this club deserves.”

Chelsea director Mar ina Granovskaia said: “Maurizio’s Napoli side played some of the most exciting footbal l in Europe, impressing with their attacking approach and dynamism.

“And his coaching methods significantly improved the players at his disposal.

“He has plenty of experience in Serie A and the Champions League and he is relishing the chance to work in the Premier League.”

Sarri will be followed to West London by Napoli’s Brazilian-born Italy international Jorginho.

The 26-year- old has signed a five-year contract with The Blues after Manchester City pulled out of the £50m deal.

Jorginho played an important role in Sarri ’s Napoli and the deep-lying playmaker is seen as the perfect fit for the high-tempo, possession- based style Sarri is expected to bring.

Jorginho said: “I am absolutely ecstatic to be here at Chelsea. It is not easy to become part of such a big team so I am very happy.

“I am excited to play in such an intense league, for a team that gives everything to play and win.”

Granovskaia added: “He was one of the most coveted midfielders in Europe and wi l l become an important member of the squad at Chelsea.

“He has demonstrated his quality working under Sarri and we are convinced his signing will help bring further success.”
