Jack: Atmosphere was a real Corker

-

Jack Cork has 200 English top-flight games under his belt but insists he has never played in an atmosphere as good as at Pittodrie last Thursday night.

The 29-year-old former Chelsea, Swansea and Southampton midfielder was involved in his first European game as Burnley toiled to a 1-1 draw with the Dons.

And the England cap admits he was blown away with the fervour of a full house in a week when Scottish football has seen nothing but flak down south. The £10million playmaker said: “The atmosphere, you just don’t get in the league in England. It was amazing.

“When they were singing Flower of Scotland it was great and when they scored you could tell it would just be a great atmosphere. It was just a good match to be involved in.”

Sam Vokes’ late leveller makes Dons’ task of progressing a lot tougher.

But Cork, who played for Team GB in the 2012 Olympics, insists Burnley are taking nothing for granted ahead of Thursday’s return.

He said: “We’ll have to be on top of our game and hopefully the away goal can help us.

“But if Aberdeen play like they did in the first 25 minutes for the whole game at Turf Moor then it could be a very difficult night for us.

“They’ve got the European experience and we’re new so that could be an advantage.”

On the first leg, Cork (left) added: “We knew it would be tough – they didn’t take us by surprise. We knew they had good quality. We showed Aberdeen plenty of respect.”
