Former Celt ic and Australia forward Scott McDonald says Socceroos starlet Daniel Arzani will wow Celtic fans if his rumoured loan move to the Scottish champions goes ahead.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers revealed the club’s interest in the 19-year-old, who dazzled in three appearances off the bench at the 2018 World Cup.
Arzani had previously been named in the A- League Team of the Season and won the competition’s Young Player of the Year in 2017/18 at Melbourne City.
He’s now been linked with several top clubs including Manchester City, Juventus, PSV Eindhoven and Celtic, who would reportedly loan him from the English outfit if they secured the youngster.
McDonald, who played for Celtic from 2007 to 2010, said that signing Arzani would be a clever move for his old club.
He said: “Daniel is one of the most exciting players to come out of Australia in terms of natural talent.
“It could be a brilliant coup for Celtic because there is a lot of interest in him from elsewhere.
“He has bags of potential but he won’t be ready to go straight in. Even though he’s gone to the World Cup and impressed he needs to tighten up his game.
“That’s one of the first things Brendan Rodgers will touch on when he arrives – but he’ll get fans out their seats when he plays. Most definitely.”
