Sloan: We have a Bot more to offer in the Cup

- Scott McHarg

.Auchinleck boss Tommy Sloan was delighted his side progressed to the next preliminary round of the senior Scottish Cup but insisted they can play a lot better.

Talbot came back from a goal down to secure their place thanks to goals from Calvin Kemp, Graham Wilson and Mark Shankland (below) after Jack Henderson had opened the scoring.

Sloan, whose side now welcome Wigton and Bladnoch, said: “It’s great to get the win and overall we deserved it.

“But our first- half display is not what I’m looking for and the players know it’s not the standards we have set at this club.

“It’s great to be part of the senior Scottish and gives all the junior c lubs the chance to show there are a lot of good sides at this level. I hope all of our clubs do well.”

The Ayrshire side fell behind in seven minutes when Allan White’s pass found Henderson who raced in on goal and slotted home for Dees.

But straight from the kick-off Kemp had Bot level with a screamer from the edge of the box.

Five minutes before the break Bot were ahead when Shankland’s shot was saved by Andrew Shearer and Wilson was on hand to smash home the loose ball. Shortly after the restart Gordon Pope’s deep cross found Shankland and his strike beat Shearer for his side’s third goal

of the contest.
