Stars come to blows in Fashion Week barney
A feud between rappers Nicki Minaj and Cardi B erupted into violence during a show at New York Fashion Week.
The stars came to blows after Cardi approached Nicki and ended up being elbowed in the face.
She reacted by aiming a high-heeled shoe at her rival on Friday night.
Nicki escaped from the drama unhurt but Cardi suffered a bump above her eye. The injury is understood to have been inflicted by a security guard.
Cardi, wearing a red Dolce & Gabbana dress, was escorted barefooted from the Harper’s Bazaar ICONS party after the bust- up, which happened during a performance by singer Christina Aguilera.
Footage of the incident appears to show Cardi lunging forward after Nicki’s friend Rah Ali got in between the pair.
Both stars posted on social media after the scuffle. Nicki, who has just released her fourth album Queen, shared pictures of herself in a leopard print ball gown.
Cardi – whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar – referred to the incident in a foul-mouthed statement on Instagram.
Although she did not mention Nicki by name, she said: “I let you sneak diss me, I let you lie on me, I let you attempt to stop my bags.”
The star also accused Nicki, 35, of threatening other artists, allegedly telling them if they worked with Cardi she would sever links with them.
Cardi – the first female rapper to have two No1s – gave birth to her first child Kulture in July but pulled out of a tour with Bruno Mars to concentrate on being a new mum.
The rapper – whose hits include Bodak Yellow – said: “When you mention my child, you choose to like comments about me as a mother, make comments about my abilities to take care of my daughter, ” adding that then, “all bets are off”.
At the MTV music awards in August, Cardi made comments that many thought were aimed at Nicki, whose hits include Starships.
The two rappers had previously denied there being a rift between them, despite repeated suggestion of subtle digs in each other’s lyrics.
