Singer ties knot in Stella McCartney dress.. then leaves in DJ pal’s £3m Aston Martin
Sharleen Spiteri tied the knot yesterday before being whisked to the reception in a £ 3million Aston Martin.
The Texas singer, 50, married celebrity chef Br yn Wi l l iams, 41, at a picturesque church in the north Wales countryside. Her DJ pal Chris Evans wasn’t spotted at the ceremony – but he did lend the newlyweds his treasured DB5 so they could head to the reception in style.
Fami ly and friends who joined the happy couple in the village of Llandyrnog included another showbiz pal, Stella McCartney, who designed the dress.
Speaking after getting engaged last year, Sharleen said: “After 10 years, he’s actually asked to marry me. It took that blooming long. Yeah, Bryn’s asked to marry me. I thought he was having a heart attack. Who knows what spurred him on?”
The Scots singer joked that she stalked her fiance for a year before he asked her out.
She said Bryn didn’t take the hint when she kept dropping into his restaurant, Odette’s, in north London.
He eventual ly proposed to Sharleen by going down on one knee in the garden of their home in Wales in January.
Sharleen revealed earlier this year that she plans to quit live gigs in a bid to recover from a crippling back injury. She ruptured three discs in her spine and doctors ordered her to stop playing or risk further damage and major surgery.
She said she negotiated with medics to play a handful of concerts while pumped full of painkillers, before an indefinite break following a final Scottish show next month.
