We had lost hope.. but they found our sister

-

Missing People Scotland helped reunite brothers James and Robert Simpson with their long-lost sister Isabella Farnell after decades apart.

The siblings were taken into care when they were children and, although the brothers were fostered together, their sister went to a different family.

After years of searching, James, 67, and Robert, 62, of Airdrie, had given up hope of ever finding Isabella, 70, who was no longer registered in Scotland.

In a last-ditch attempt to find her aunt, James’s daughter Helen, 40, contacted Missing People Scotland, where search expert Vivian Kydd tracked Isabella down to Blackpool.

Mum-of-six Helen said: “I couldn’t believe it. We had tried everything. A few days after I contacted the page, Vivian discovered my dad’s sister had married and was living in Blackpool.

“I sent Isabella and some of her family members a message on Facebook. I got a reply from her grandson, who confirmed we had found the right person.

“My dad and uncle Robbie were over the moon. My dad had been speaking about Isabella for years but Robbie was a baby when they were separated and doubted her existence.

“They spoke on the phone and then Isabella came to Glasgow with her daughter.

“We all had a lovely meal together and they have been in contact ever since.”

Helen added: “There are no words to describe how grateful I am to Viv and Missing People Scotland for bringing my dad and his brother and sister back together.

“They have given so much joy to our family when we had given up hope of them ever being reunited. What an incredible service they provide.”
