Nothing’s Bot & paid for while in this gear

- SCOTT McHARG

Pollok ............... 1 Auchinleck ...... 2

Graham Wilson fired a double then a warning to Talbot’s top-flight rivals they’ve yet to find top gear.

Auchinleck remain unbeaten after bagging a fourth win in five in front of a 1000-strong crowd.

Pollok pulled one back thanks to Shaun Fraser’s neat finish as striker Wilson insisted Bot must start putting teams away.

He said: “We deserved the win and should have been out of sight after our first-half showing.

“In saying that we need to start killing teams off as we were hanging on a wee bit at the end.

“That’s us played five games and have four wins and a draw but we are still not firing on all cylinders.

“It was great to score two but the most important thing is the team winning and long may this run continue. We were pipped for the title on the final day of last season by Beith and it’s something we don’t want to experience again.”

Wilson nodded in from four yards 12 minutes in after Gordon Pope headed Mark Shankland’s corner back across goal.

Talbot made it two just before the break when Gary McCann tripped Wilson and he buried the penalty.

Fraser then struck at the back post despite Andy Leishman’s sublime save to deny ex-Bot star Bryan Young’s diving header.

Lok boss Tony McInally said: “We didn’t turn up in the first half and you can’t give teams of that quality a two-goal start.”

Bot boss Tommy Sloan said: “It’s a great three points at a very difficult place to visit”.
