Off-day Brora in bother

Inverurie Locos came out on top against Brora Rangers in an ill-tempered clash that saw three red cards dished out.

Joe McCabe was sent packing for Locos before Colin Williamson and Niall Docherty were given their marching orders after the break.

And Inverurie sealed a 2-0 win thanks to a double from Neil Gauld.

Deadly Gauld found the net with a penalty and a stunning free- kick in the second half to wrap up a hard-fought win.

Locos boss Neil Cooper said: “The game was pretty even but the referee deemed Joe McCabe’s challenge to be a red when I felt a yellow was enough.”

Opposite number Steven Mackay said: “I had a good, balanced conversati­on with the referee, so I am not going to blame the officials.”

Elsewhere, Cove stretched their lead at the top but made heavy work of hosts Strathspey Thistle in a 3-2 win. A Mitch Megginson double and Jamie Masson winner sealed the points .
