A tad Hasty to believe I’m the finished article

- Gary Heatly

Glasgow Warriors’ man of the moment Adam Hastings has warned his Guinness Pro14 rivals there is still much more to come from him.

The 21-year-old stand-off has made a flying start to the season after stepping into the boots of Finn Russell . But Hastings believes he is still “green” at the top level and reckons he’ll come on again with more game time.

The Scotstoun squad fly out to South Africa today after two wins out of two – Friday’s home triumph over Munster backing up the opening- day victory at Connacht.

They face the Cheetahs and the Southern Kings over the next fortnight in the southern hemisphere.

And Hastings, named man of the match against Munster, said: “I’m nowhere near the finished article and still feel pretty green.

“I’m still learning but time in the No.10 shirt is helping. There’s lots more

improving in my game to be done. The Scotland stuff in the summer boosted my confidence as did the Munster game. Now I just want to take that into the next few matches.

“Before the Munster game we spoke about physicality. There was a huge focus on being really brutal around the contact area and I think you saw that – all the forwards were outstanding.

“A lot of teams think we just play f lamboyant, chuck- it-wide rugby but against Munster we showed we can be physical around the contact area. That was really good and gives us plenty to build on.”
