COUPLE AND KID ESCAPE AFTER TUBE TRACK FALL

-

A mother and child had an amazing escape after they fell into the path of an oncoming Tube train.

They only avoided serious injury by scrambling into a pit beneath the track as the train passed over them.

The father also leapt down to help the pair as the terrifying incident unfolded at London’s Baker Street station on Friday night.

The mother was pushing her child in a buggy along the platform and looking up at the indicator board when she accidentally fell, say police.

The three avoided electrocution, missing the 630- volt power lines “by pure luck”, according to a Transport for London spokesman.

A second child was left standing on the platform.

None of them wa s seriously hurt, but they were taken to hospital for checks.

The drama happened on the Jubilee Line, on the southbound st r ip of platform nine, at about 10.15pm. The station was evacuated and trains suspended as a result of the incident.

British Transport Police have launched an investigation.

“Amazingly, no one was seriously hurt ,” said a spokesman.

Witness Peter Holland s a id he saw people screaming and running in tears following the incident.

He tweeted: “We got to the platforms at Baker Street just as this happened, the train whistling, people screaming and running in tears.

“I can’t tel l you how relieved I am to hear this wasn’t fatal.

“Thoughts go out to the dr iver of t he t ra i n . Unbelievable.”
