Soap star and mum of two reveals how she’s loving life in Scotland with her Celtic ace fiance
Corrie star Helen Flanagan says her fiance Scott Sinclair is a hands- on dad who wants a whole squad of kids.
The soap princess says the Celtic player, 29, is a brilliant father to Matilda, three, and Delilah, who was born just 10 weeks ago. Helen, 28, who got engaged to the Hoops winger in May, said: “We love being a family of four. We feel so lucky to have our two healthy girls and definitely want more chi ldren. I love being a mummy, being pregnant, and I just love babies. “Scott is a brilliant dad and is really hands- on with Matilda. With breastfeeding Delilah, there is not much Scott can do but in the evenings he takes over with her sister. “Matilda has a bit of both of us in her – she’s a very confident little girl like I was and she’s also very active and sporty like Scott. “She is starting at a drama class soon and she goes to gymnastics. We just want our girls to be healthy and happy, like all loving parents.” Helen, who will wed Scott next summer, hasn’t made up her mind whether she will tie the knot in a Scottish castle or go abroad. But it has to involve kilts. She said: “I’m super- girlie and I’ve dreamt about my wedding since I was young. I would love a fairytale day. “Scott proposed to me during a family trip to Disneyland Paris in May, where he got down on one knee in front of the lit-up Sleeping Beauty castle. “I am not sure where or what I want for my wedding yet. I have been wedding dress shopping in Edinburgh and that was really fun. I have no idea what style of dress I will go for yet so I’m trying on lots. I have been surprising myself, though, as the dress that I’ve liked the most so far is something I wouldn’t usually go for. Who knows what I will end up walking down the aisle in?”
She added: “One thing I do know is that I would like lots of men in kilts at my wedding as I think they look amazing. I’m not sure if Scott will be wearing a kilt though.”
The actress splits her time between their home in Glasgow and Manchester looking after her two girls. But she has launched a sexy maternity lingerie range called Delilah Ruby after her daughter.
She said: “I have always been passionate about beautiful lingerie and modelling. I am also really passionate about breastfeeding and being a mother.
“I felt there was a gap in the market for pretty, fresh, fun and sexy maternity/ breastfeeding lingerie.
“I worked with a designer as I’m not veryerygoodgood at drawing. I would send them my ideas and inspirations and they would make them look fab. I’m now working on my second collection, which I’m really excited about.
“Being a breastfeeding mummy is tough going – that’s why I wanted to create something to make women feel lovely. I think it’s important for women to be supportive of each other and be honest about the harder times of being a mum.
“I was very honest about my breastfeeding journey on my blog on my website as I found it difficult at the beginning with both my girls and I think it helps other mums to be honest and real about experiences and not to paint a perfect picture.”
Helen, who has been in Corrie on and off for 18 years, is hopinghop to return to the soap in the future. ShShe said: “I would love to return to CorCoronation Street, I ’ m just not sure whenwhen. “I missm my screen mum – Sally Dynevor – and sister, Brooke VinceVincent , a lot. I ’ ve grown up in the show and it hhas such a special place ini my heart.” HeleHelen, who modelled her new collection just weeks before she gave birth to Delilah, wants her daudaughters to have a star role on their big day. She said:sa “I honestly don’t kknow who I’m going to ask to be my bridesmabridesmaids yet. I don’t want to say, in case I change mmy mind. “Since wwe got engaged, I’ve had my hands full with the girls sos haven’t had a secondd to sit downd andd make any final decisions. “I want the girls to be in mini versions of my wedding dress. Definitely the same material and colour. I just want them to look as cute and adorable as possible.” She added: “Scott and I have been together for 10 years so it’s quite nice to get married when we’ve built a life together and everything is so lovely and secure. And I really do love that our daughters can be there at our wedding and share it with us.” Helen is also taking her time about planning a hen night. She said: “I really should get planning my hen party but I’m not really into partying any more. I’m not a party person at all. In fact, I don’t really go out. I just spend all of my time with the girls.” Helen’s maternity lingerie collection is available at www.delilahruby.co.uk.
